Appetizer

I can't even BEGIN to dive into the chaos that has been the last week of my life. I will update though, probably this weekend. In the mean time, here are a few photographs taken by Daphne:

Whoa

I don't know how it's possible, but I've almost managed to become busier now that I am not working. Not that this should be completely unreasonable, there are a lot of huge changes going on in our lives right now. This has been what my accumulating To Do list has looked like for the past couple weeks:

*House Hunting
*Getting Pre-Approved for a mortgage
*Putting in an offer on our house
*Finding an apartment in Vancouver
*Applying for apartment in Vancouver
*Getting things in order for Daphne's new preschool
-Going to Dr to get immunizations
-Preschool open house
*Clearing out and organizing junk piles and stashes around the house
*Daphne's first day of preschool
*Signing lease at new apartment
*Moving (this weekend!)
*Finalizing schedule with PSU
*Finalizing financial aid
*Buying textbooks
*First day of school for me
*Gathering documents for Mortgage loan application

Some of these things are done, some of these things are going on now, and some of these things are yet to come! I just can't wait til things settle down a bit...

My little artist

Daphne LOVES to draw. And color. And write. It is always her go to activity. Actually, I think saying Daphne loves to draw is an understatement. If one day she tells someone that she loves to draw and they replied with "well then why don't you marry it?!" she would probably seriously contemplate it.

Not only does she love to draw, she is really good at it. This is a picture of Daphne and Kat that she drew at her preschool open house. I have, quite literally, hundreds of drawings depicting this same image. And I keep all of them.

Score!

After making a donation at the Goodwill, I decided to take a peek inside to see if I could find any treasures. In addition to some gently worn sneakers and Dora DVD for Daphne (hello 95 minutes of uninterrupted mommy time!)... I found this AMAZING clutch!

This is absolutely perfect for my little jonts around town when all I need to bring with me is my phone and ID case.

The Acid Attack... Happened in Our Town!

So, don't know if any of you have been following the story about the women who claimed a stranger randomly threw acid in her face...

http://www.oregonlive.com/clark-county/index.ssf/2010/09/clark_county_prosecutor_tells_today_show_the_decision_to_prosecute_bethany_storro_was_a_straight-for.html

This actually happened a block away from John's office. The woman is currently facing felony charges. How weird would it be if this family hired John's firm?

I'm not sure if I agree with the charges. I do feel Bethany Storro should have some kind of consequence... but not what she's being charged with.

Sick

Except it's not me this time. But I think whatever it is, it's being passed around to everybody. Daphne started acting sick yesterday; complaining of being hot (in 60 degree weather), being extra cuddly, and then not eating lunch and falling asleep at a pizza place. I could tell right off the bat that she was sick. Anyway, it finally ended last night when she threw up all over me, the chair and the floor. She seems to be doing better today, but I've ordered that Daphne will take it easy today (BRAT diet and rest). I will just be tending to my little Daphne and taking care of lots of chores at home.

BTW- I totally love lounging around at home...

When the day is going to look like this:

Oh yeah... and I'm kinda freaking out a little bit because SCHOOL STARTS NEXT WEEK! This break has gone by way too fast! LOTS TO DO BY THE END OF THIS WEEK!

P.S. The home owners accepted our offer... but we still need to wait for the bank to accept it now.

I'm addicted...

How I got a 4lb bag of frozen chicken for $2:

So, when I was working full time I didn't have time, nor did I care about "getting a good deal". I always assumed it was too much effort to spend all that time to save a dollar or so when we were well off financially. Since we're making a great effort to save every penny for our down payment, I am extra aware of where I can get a good deal. Aside from taking care of Daphne and cleaning the house, getting good deals is my full time job.

Safeway sends out these cool coupons to get stuff for free, and at a reduced price. What a concept! I got a coupon for $4 off a 4lb bag of chicken and decided to use it. And I mean, why not? I don't usually shop at Safeway because I KNOW that they jack up their prices to be a "high end store". But for $4 off chicken- I'm there!

The chicken was originally priced at $11.96 and was on sale with their club card for $7.96. Already a deal. With the $4 off, that would price it at $3.96. BUT WAIT! If you go to Safeway's website, they often have coupons that you can load to your card. Now, I have to be honest. I'm not a fan of coupons because they are generally for expensive packaged food that I never buy anyway. But I do keep my eye out for my staple grocery items, because I don't consider it saving money unless I was going to buy it anyway.

On Safeways website was a coupon for $2 off a 4lb bag of frozen chicken. Adding that to my other coupon gave me that $11.96 bag of chicken for only $1.96.

My cold; graphic but true

Last Monday I cought a pretty nasty cold. First I was out for about two days, and couldn't do much but lay on the couch while Daphne watched endless netflix episodes of Diego... ugh. After that I had two days of a completely stuffed up nose and accidentally took the night time cold medicine instead of the day time cold medicine. It literally hit me like a ton of bricks and I felt like I took a shot of vodka and two sleeping pills. One of those days happened to be the Friday that we arranged to walk through about... 10 houses with our Realtor Ryan.

As with most colds, the next 3 days were followed by relentless hacking up of mucus and snot. Unfortunately, many of those times happened while driving in the car with John. And I learned something... never hack up a huge loogy and try to spit it out the car window while driving on the freeway...

Sharing

So lately John has been teaching Daphne how to tell dung beetle jokes. Daphne just loves them because they are so silly. Today we were visiting a park and Daphne started to play with a girl about her age.

Before I know it I here in the distance

"what does a dung beetle like to eat at the movie theater??? POOP CORN!!! Ah ha ha!"

A bright idea

Daphne and I both agree that the best ideas come to us at 7:30 in the morning.

"Mom, it would be cool to be inside a bird egg."

Just Daphne

I snap dozens of random shots of Daphne weekly. Here are some of them:

4th of July

I know, this is probably going to seem boring and lame to most if you... But here come a whole slew of catch up posts.

For 4th of July Grandpa Kyle was able to visit us. Lydia and her boyfriend joined in on the festivities as well. We celebrated by BBQing animals and walking down to the water front to catch the fireworks. I don't think we'll be doing that again.

This picture just cracks me up because it perfectly illustrates that randomness of Daphne.

Make over!

Ok so I am totally pumped about blogging again. So much so that I am itching to do a blog make over. Primarily because for some odd reason the picture I posted from my iPhone is too big for the center column on the format I am using. I am not very technology savvy- so not sure how to solve that issue. Any advice anyone???

I do like the clean white look of the blog, so I will probably keep that to an extent. This will be a top priority for me this week!
